Summer at Colwell Bayback >
Make the most of the summer on the Isle of Wight by staying at Colwell Bay. The perfect place to relax during the summer months with sunny weather and great beaches, you can see why this is the place to be.
Colwell Bay is one of many picturesque beaches in West Wight, offering stunning views back across the Solent to mainland England. Totland Bay, Freshwater Bay and Compton are also nearby. These beaches have contrasting golden and dark sands, with rolling seas, which are just busy enough in the summer month yet not overcrowd like some of the bigger beaches on the southern side of the Isle of Wight.
Situated near to the Isle of Wight’s most famous landmark attraction, The Needles Landmark Attraction has entertainment, fun and interaction for the whole family. Watch the fascinating art of glass blowing. Or check out the best view of the Isle of Wight’s famous landmark from the chairlift that transports visitors from the top of the cliff to Alum Bay beach. Once there, find multi coloured sand and the unique opportunity to make your own souvenirs by filling glass shapes with layers of the different coloured sand, so you are able to take home a part of the Isle of Wight.
Don’t miss the magic in the skies night every Thursday at The Needles from the 30th July with entertainment throughout the day, live music and a spectacular firework display to finish.
Throughout the summer season enjoy an open top ‘Needles Breezer’ ride. Considered one of the best rides on the Isle of Wight, the tour runs from Yarmouth town through to Freshwater Bay past the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival site and then makes its way back to Alum Bay and up to The Needles Battery above the famous iconic needle rocks and lighthouse.
Prefer to explore by boat? Book onto a pleasure cruise where you can tour out to the famous red and white lighthouse and enjoy an exhilarating high speed ride around the coastline.
Animal lovers can head to Tapnell Farm Park here where you will find a wide range of hands-on animal experiences with loads to keep kids and adult entertained. Located near Yarmouth on the West of the Island, Tapnell Farm Park is surrounded by stunning 360 degree views over the Solent, Newton creek, and Tennyson down. Or why not visit West Wight Alpacas and take one of their Alpacas on a trek around the stunning West Wight.
Blackgang Chine is just around the corner. This popular theme park with rides, games and a maze to keep the whole family entertained is the UKs oldest amusement park. With their magical Monday nights this summer you can enjoy an evening with all your favourite characters and an enchanted evening of entertainment. Don't miss their Wednesday Big Night Out Fireworks. Every Wednesday throughout the summer break you can enjoy an evening of fun and entertainment including street performers and fire show, a BBQ and to bring the spectacular day to an end an incredible musical firework display set off from the cliffs edge.
And for our more adventurous visitors there are facilities for surf lessons, kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding to hidden caves and Victorian forts, taking in spectacular views of the unspoilt chalk cliffs of the West Wight.
