Whatever the weather attractions on the Isle of Wight
It can be difficult to plan a day out if the weather forecast looks changeable, but fear not, we have some ideas. Below is a list of places you can enjoy come rain or shine on the Isle of Wight.
Choosing to stay at one of our holiday parks means you immediately have a range of entertainment and amusement facilities on your doorstep. Our three holiday parks have plenty of options to offer including children's play park facilities, swimming pools, tennis courts, and recreation areas, allowing the kids to make friends and have fun while you relax with a book, have a coffee at the café or indulge in the spa.
The Railway Station, Havenstreet, Isle of Wight, PO33 4DS
The sight of powerful majestic steam engines, the charm of quiet rural stations and the friendliness of the traditionally uniformed staff will leave you with some enduring memories of a special day out. While brilliant sunshine will mean the sights are even more spectacular, being enclosed in a train means this is a great rainy day activity. Trips run throughout the year with seasonal specials at times such as Christmas and Mother’s Day.
Brading Road, Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 1QS
A unique venue, unlike anything you will have probably seen before! Head here for a 40-minute ‘dancing water’ show. Each hour the show begins with tonnes of water exploding into the air, illuminated by a rainbow of colours to the tune of some amazing music. There’s a large, comfortable seating area and free parking outside. Shows run throughout the day and in the evenings on selected dates and tickets are cheap at just £4.95 for adults and £2.85 for children.
Blackgang Chine Theme Park, Blackgang, Chale, Isle of Wight, PO38 2HN
This is an outdoor facility suited to a dry day but there are indoor facilities should a shower hit. Suitable for all the family you can let your imagination run wild as you venture on a journey of discovery .... fighting pirates onboard your own ship, discovering life size moving dinosaurs and escaping from danger, being sheriff of your own cowboy town, rounding up the outlaws and locking 'em up - or experiencing the magic of being fairy princess in your own castle! The park is open from March 2017 (it closes for the winter) so check before you travel.
Commodore Cinema, 2 Star Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight, PO33 2HX
A staple of rainy days everywhere, what’s better than a trip to the cinema? This fantastic, unique venue shows many of the latest releases but at significantly lower prices than its big chain competitors – tickets are just £4 each, all-day everyday, making this a really affordable activity for all the family.
With all attractions, be sure to check before you travel to make sure they are open on the day you intend to visit.
